For many years, Driss Alaoui M’Daghri was a politically engaged intellectual. He has been a minister in four governments in Morocco, then he decided to devote himself to art, founding Come To My Home, an itinerant music, poetry, and visual arts festival, of which there have been over 12 editions so far.

In my process, I soak my inspirations for a certain time during collecting & researching, before starting a new design. Whenever I feel ready to start, I express it with a completely new pattern. Then I check, if my eyes are shining then the design is complete. Afterwards, I barely do big changes, only minor details need to be adjusted during the realization phase.
For this design, I spent more than one week. It went very smoothly in the beginning, I sketched the pattern to describe overall Driss’s personality and personal life achievements. Then I stopped as I feel something mysterious that wait for me to discover but I don’t know what immediately, so I waited.
One day, I went to an outdoor concert in the Botanic Garden with a group of friends, I bought one of my favorite art books – The Uffizi official guide. As always I enjoyed reading every small detail in this book. One moment, the painting " The Ognissanti Madonna by Giotto" caught my eye, but this time not only the vase with Lily & Rose combination but also Angel’s wings. So similar to the design pattern I created for Driss. Immediately, I know this design will be completed soon.
The next day, I sit for quietly experimenting with sketches, with satisfaction I completed the final drawing with precise dimensions and gemstone selections.
